Are you pulling your hair out and don’t know what to do?
Here you’ve got this child – your pride and joy
He’s driving you crazy – seems he likes to annoy.
It could be your daughter ‘cause girls are this too
Whatever it is, they don’t think EXACTLY like YOU!” …..
I’ve worked with children and parents for over 30 years with my focus on raising happy, well rounded kids be all they can be. I developed 3D Learner initially to help my own children. I was tired and frustrated with having other ‘experts’ tell me what was WRONG with my kids – with very little support on actually WHAT TO DO! As a parent, I’ve been where you are – not knowing where to turn or who to listen to. Everything got so confusing, and it seemed like programs were so splintered, working on individual parts of what was wrong! Isn’t there someplace where someone will recognize and celebrate my child’s abilities while working on this skills? That’s why I started 3D Learner!
I wrote “Life is a Ball … Don’t put me in a Box” so that you, as parents can start to look at your child from a Different Perspective – just like these kids look at the world differently! Many “balls” are SMART- even gifted! Instead of saying someone “thinks out of the box”—my response is “What box?” Do you really think Disney, Branson or Jobs thought there was something WRONG with the way they dreamed?? Sure school was hard—because everyone wanted THEM to learn the way everyone else did
There is a LOT of talk going around about labeling children with Dyslexia, ADHD or processing problems and wanting One program that will solve the problem! There is no ONE PROGRAM! What is vital, is that we look at the whole child!!
Our children are creative beings who deserve to be taught in a way that works for them. We know these students are creative and have strong memories of trips they have experiences. Studies have proven these students need learning experiences that promote discovering, movement, open-ended questioning and involvement.
Have you noticed how sensitive your child is? How empathetic she or he is about animals or younger children or senior adults? They are amazing kids. WHY DO WE WANT TO SUBJECT THEM TO INSTRUCTIONAL MODELS THAT WILL CHANGE THEIR BRAIN?
New studies – including functional MRIs – are beginning to prove what we have been doing for 18 years with kids; that building on their strengths truly helps them succeed, including reading! Read about exciting new advancements in dyslexia research.
