Dyslexia or a Right-Brain Learner – Why Parents Make The Difference
Our view is that seeing dyslexia as a problem with the sound symbol problem or as a right-brain learner is a choice parents have.
The International Dyslexia has their definition of dyslexia
“Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities”
Others define dyslexia as one who uses the right-brain instead of the left-brain to read and spell.
Dyslexia Treatments Are Different Than a Right-Brain Program
Dyslexia programs tend to focus on improving the dyslexic student’s ability to sound out parts of words and to spell better. They focus on building the left-brain to be more efficient and effective.
