Mom was looking for a Gifted Program in Boca Raton.
She found programs like IMACS (R) an excellent math program, but what she needed was help for her gifted child who excelled in math and science and was just doing OK on reading and the standardized reading tests. What she really wanted was a gifted program that would improve her gifted child’s reading comprehension, test scores and self-esteem.
The school told her not to worry, her son was doing OK. Mom knew she had to find a way to help her gifted son succeed— but she was not sure where — then she came across a blog post about GOLD Students – Gifted Operating with a Learning Difference and she was speechless.
She had read stories about Edison, Einstein and Disney, who were all gifted, but struggled with certain subjects — mostly reading and writing.
3D Learner does help students with Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities, but helping GOLD Students (TM)– Gifted Students Operating with a Learning Difference, is one of our real strengths.
5 Things to Consider:
1- GOLD students can often master difficult tasks, but their reading comprehension is often hampered by their inability to understand the small or frequently used words (e.g. but, what, if , except, etc.) and to recognize words seen and not masterted
2- GOLD Students often struggle with paying attention to that which is boring
3- GOLD Students often have eye-teaming issues — they skip words and lines when reading
4- GOLD students can often achieve success in months not years with the right program
5- Before investing in any program, you want to know if your child learners differently; whether your child has attention, eye-teaming or related challenges; and whether the people have a track record of helping students like your child succeed.
1- You may be told be realistic and put your child back in regular classes — not our first choice
2- You may be told your child should work harder — if your child learns differently, the key is to work smarter
3- You may be told that ADHD medication, a phonics-based program or another program is the answer
4- You may be told to just accept reality and your child is doing the best he or she can
5- You may be told something else — that sounds too good to be true
Rather than jumping to a conclusion, we recommend that you first screen for a learning difference, and for attention, eye-teaming and related issues. We offer such an assessment you can do with your child and a no cost consult — you can find the assessment at the 3D Learner GOLD Students page and then call us for a consult at 561-361-7495.
Then, we suggest you visit places, where possible. For a GOLD Student, the ability to connect with both the people he or she will work with and to feel comfortable at a new place are both critical.
Whatever you do, we suggest you:
1- Be committed to your child’s success and be open on the how
2- Start with our Success Assessment at our GOLD Student Page and call us at 561-361-7495
3- Work with professionals who have the expertise that is needed and the passion to help your child to be all he or she can be.
