The following are statements from real parents, teachers and students - our thanks to everyone who contributed:
Dear Mira: It’s so easy to blame, criticize and point out problems but I am thrilled that you will not be hearing any of that from me.
Today I learned J’s FCAT score. A four! A four in Reading! At first I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. When we started working together in August her teacher wasn’t so sure that she belonged in 3rd
grade and I wasn’t too sure that she was wrong. What a mistake that would have been. Of course I have a significant personal interest in my daughter’s accomplishments and that’s the reason for my perseverance and supporting her eternal determination.
I have to share my absolute respect for your dedicated efforts for just one child, but to me, the center of my world.
You have an exceptional sensitivity to my daughter that could have been so easily overlooked without anyone calling attention to her promise. There’s a kind of magic the way you unlock the potential in a 3D Learner.
I have to admit that I was not always so confident that all this extra effort was actually going to be worth it, but I am so thrilled that I didn’t give up.
Thank you Mira! Thank you Judy! Thank you Mark!
Sincerely, P.M., Cooper City, FL
We have Awesome news!!!!!! A. is on the A/B honor roll. She went from F’s into mostly A’s this grading session. Since they separate everything now, she has 8 A’s & 4 B’s. She has an A in Social Studies, Health, Science and Reading. B in Spelling and B in Math. Her low spots are still comprehension, writing, spelling and math. She put them all in their place with this report card. Yes, I cried. It’s fantastic that a child can progress and improve as the year goes forward. It’s usually the opposite when course work gets harder. Last year at this time, everyone in this school wanted A. to be medicated. She still always talks about you both and wants to come visit again. You have been her inspiration. Thank you for the seeds that have been planted and for the ones that have really started to grow.
Thanks Again. B.B., Valparaiso, IN.
I just wanted to let you know that I've been doing brain gym exercises for awhile in my class. I just thought it broke up the day and helped get the "wiggles out." But this week I've begun using the brain gym exercises as well as the visual motor exercises with my class of 16--mainly the race track and hit the wall. I also did your clay method and had them make a picture, write a sentence. I used to do the clay method but not the sentences or the picture. So this morning I gave an assessment. My usual f students (those right brainers) received high c's--which means they read the vocab. words and they didn't get lost in the print. I just want to say thank you. One of my students came to the word over, got stuck and I said close your eyes look up now do you see it and he immediately said over! It's also amazing to see the differences with my kids as some of them work so hard on their clay and others are so eager to put down the clay and write the sentence. WOW! It really helps to see your children's thinking. Thanks again. This is a real breakthrough for children. Ms. M., Rich Creek, VA.
Dear Mark and Mira:I appreciate your asking how I am doing. That is very nice of you guys. In Illinois, my teachers are great. I am not having to re-learn a lesson that I should have been taught at school. I have an IEP and I have been given accomodations to help me out. Thank you so much for helping me out and helping me to learn how to help myself with how I learn. JG (14), IL.
Do you remember that little girl who came to you over the summer in between her 3rd and 4th grade? She is graduating high school this year! I wanted to give you an update. Her weighted GPA was 4.52 on 1st quarter report card. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and is the librarian for the marching band. Your help with Ilana was invaluable. I am so happy to have found you, because I don't think that Ilana would have been the same person had she not worked with you. Music has been another positive experience in her life. Had I known the positive impact that music has had on Ilana's life, I would have started her playing music mush earlier in life. Last year Ilana was able to participate in All County Band. What a great experience this was for her. Unfortunately, do to funding; Broward
County will not have this program this year. But the Douglas Band was selected to participate in activities before and during the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl this year.
Ilana wants to become a nurse and work in the field of pediatric emergency care. I can't begin to tell you what this means to me. I remember when Ilana was much younger, wondering if there would be a place for her in this world. Mrs. M., Parkland, FL.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for my son. I consider the program a complete success and I couldn't be happier with the results. I would not change a thing. While you did a wonderful job with the 3D Learner ProgramTM, you also did an excellent job in so many ways that were just as important, if not more important, in learning to deal with and live with Dyslexia. You made it such a positive experience and I know we have skipped many of the problems families face due to late problem identification. R. has a very positive attitude towards being a 3D Learner TM. While I know this is part luck on my part, but most of the credit belongs to you for a skilled and professional job. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. -Mrs. P., Santo Domingo
The 3D Learner Program is the first program that has really helped R. He has now replaced "I can't with I can". It also showed him he can read, and he has been reading more than ever. It also helped him realize how many things he can do really well.
-Mrs. H., Tampa, FL.
His reading level has improved 4 grades in 11 months. It also helped me to understand how I could interact more effectively with R and the school. My first Individual Education Plan meeting with the school after the program went much better because of the advice you shared. I would recommend getting the word out to as many school districts and educators who will listen about this program and to develop parent and educator groups I will definitely recommend this program. It is great to finally find positive help and encouragement. -Mrs. H., Pittsburgh, PA
If all we had gotten from the program was the improved relationship with our son the program would have been well worth it. Fortunately, we got much more. -Mrs.. R, New York
He now really understands what he learns. I also understand him much better. -Mrs. C., Florida
Overall he is a new kid!!! Our lives have changed dramatically!!! -Mrs. D., Florida
I can tell my daughter is now in control. She is much more self-confident. Homework now gets done much quicker and with less frustration. -Mrs. F., New Jersey
Our daughter is now reading better than ever. She has also become her best self-advocate. -Mrs. H., Florida
This is the first time my daughter feels that a teacher has really understood both her problem and how to help her -Mrs. P., Florida
The most common comment we hear is that, "This works so well, because it is the first time my child feels that they are being understood and taught in a way that makes learning understandable and fun."
