Why Your Smart Child Struggles and How You Can Make The Difference
Has your child failed the FCAT or just gotten by?
Would you be interested in a way to improve your child's test scores 15, 30 or even 45 percentile?
Many more students failed the FCAT this year versus last year.
This may well be due to the 2006 FCAT being easy, hat made the politicians look good, but it gave people a false sense of security.
This year's results are sobering and should serve as a wake-up call.
For students who learn differently, we know that more drilling is not he answer. At 3D Learner, we have found the solution to be ...
Focusing On Your Child's Strengths and Challenges
Does your child have an uncanny memory for places they have been, even from years ago?
Does your child learn best when they see and experience information?
Does the wording of FCAT questions often confuse your child?
Does the tension of the FCAT process result in your child's performance not reflecting their skills?
If your child has a keen visual memory, learns best when they see nd experience information and performs poorly on the FCAT test -- he challenge may be a combination of a learning difference, ension and other complications
Our Story/Which May Be Similar To Yours
In 1995 we were faced with these challenges in the pre-FCAT days.
Our smart daughter Julie was three years behind in her reading comprehension and did poorly on standardized tests.
Julie was told she was not college material and ...
Mira, her mom who has a Masters in Education, developed what has become the 3D Learner Program (R).
Julie improved her reading comprehension by 4.2 grade levels n 7 months, and later earned her Masters in Education.
Over the last seven years our students have often done very well n the FCAT with some of the improvements including:
- A student who went from the 18th to the 83rd percentile
- A students who went from the 17th to the 84th percentile
- A students who went from the 48th to the 95th percentile
Schools are very good at drilling and preparing traditional students,
but we have found that students who learn best when they
see and experience information often have a significant differential etween their potential and their FCAT performance for two, hree, four or even all five of the following Red Flags:
- The small words (e.g. except, but, why, what etc.) throw them and this causes problems with comprehension
- and math word problems
- Pattern recognition -- they can often see a word on one page and not remember it a page or two later
- They have difficulty sustaining attention over a long period of time when the work is boring --the FCAT fits this profile
- They have problems skipping words or lines when reading and this problem gets worse as they tire
- They often get tense and frustrated with high stakes tests -- when tension goes up performance goes down
At 3D Learner, we help you to understand:
- Which issues impact your child
- What your child's key needs are
- What might work for your child -- both in terms of tips, programs and things you can do with the school
