FAQs About The 3D Learner Dyslexia Treatment

Are most dyslexics visual learners?

While there haven’t been any formal studies, our experience indicates that 80% – 90% of dyslexic students may be a visual learner.

Why does 3D Learner focus on word recognition skills and understanding the high-frequency words, or sight words, first while every other dyslexia treatment appears to go right to phonics?

We recognize that teaching phonics is important and we do it.  It is just not the first thing we do.

As Dr. Linda Silverman, an expert in helping the visual-spatial learner wrote in her book “Upside Down Excellent”

Phonics instruction does not need to be eliminated altogether, but sight word vocabulary needs to be built first.  Then whole words or syllables can be compared and the pattern recognition capacities of the visual-spatial learner can be brought to bear.

What is your response to seeing so many comments like – vision training does not cure dyslexia?

Our dyslexia treatment is designed to help your child succeed. Improving reading comprehension is one of the key goals. More recent research shows that 77% of the students with dyslexia have a significant visual processing issue. We are not a pure dyslexia treatment, we focus on the whole child. For us, it is as important to identify and address the visual processing and related issues as any other issue.

We are looking at a very expensive dyslexia treatment – yet your program looks far more comprehensive. Have you had many students do another dyslexia treatment and then yours?

Yes, we have.  Almost every other dyslexia treatment focuses on addressing the student’s weaknesses and that approach takes a much longer time.  By capitalizing on the student’s strengths, while identifying and addressing their challenges, we can often make more dramatic gains.

What really makes the 3D Learner Dyslexia Treatment different than others?

First, we teach the way our students learn best. We integrate efforts to improve sight word vocabulary, word recognition, visual processing, working memory, phonics, phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, and other skills in ways that students find far more engaging.

 Our holistic approach often improves:

  • Reading speed and comprehension
  • Self-esteem, while reducing anxiety
  • Visual processing, working memory and processing speed – where needed

The student’s ability to:

  • Get homework done in less time and with less stress
  • Success in regular and even advanced classes
  • Do much better in sports, music, dance, etc

We also share effective ways for parents to coach and advocate for your child. We can also advise parents on school support programs and IEP planning.

Is the 3D Learner program more comprehensive than a dyslexia treatment approach?

People may find us because they are looking for a dyslexia treatment, but soon recognize we are far more than that.
