Dyslexia Private Schools provide parents with a real option, especially in places like Florida, where passing the high stakes FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) is required to be promoted to 4th grade and to receive a regular high school diploma. There are alternative ways for a child with dyslexia or a learning disability to be promoted or to receive a regular diploma. Parents correctly assume that if your child goes to a dyslexia private school, they will be exempt from the FCAT and can avoid the stress of the test and the ramifications of not passing the test. To make matters even better, if your child is in a public school and has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or a 504 Plan (i.e. for a disability that impacts a major life function) your child may qualify for the McKay Scholarship, which will allow you to use the funding your public school would have received to reduce your obligations for tuition. On the other hand, we have seen too many parents send their child to the wrong school, not understanding which schools are best for their dyslexic child, for their ADHD child, or for the child with or without behavior issues. We are Mira and Mark Halpert. 3D Learner is our company. We help students with Dyslexia, ADHD and Learning Disabilities, as well as other smart struggling students who do not learn the way schools teach. We call our students right-brained learners or GOLD Students (TM) -- Gifted Operating with a Learning Difference. The tuition at these schools is well below areas like New York and Connecticut, but as shown below, the investments are substantial. Parents are often delighted to see a $7000 scholarship from the state, but the additional $13,000 to $23000 it might cost at a Dyslexia Private School is high, and then multiply it by, 3, 5 of 10 years, depending on your child’s grade.
