- To help the students become calmer, more confident and better focused
- To help parents make the difference in their child's life while freeing time and energy for their family and themselves
3D Learner Program Roots
In 1995, we were told our then eighth grade daughter Julie was not college material. Julie's mother Mira, who has her Masters in Education, developed the 3D Learner Program that helped Julie improve her reading comprehension 4.2 grade levels in 7 months and later earn her Masters in Education.
Julie "The Original 3D Learner"
The three key concepts behind the initial program were:
- Julie learned best when she saw and experienced information and could dramatically improve her comprehension if she could master sight words
- Julie had been frustrated by previous challenges and if she could be calmer, more confident and better focused life would be better
- As parents, we needed to learn how to more effectively coach and advocate for Julie, while teaching her to be a better self-advocate
Key Discoveries
- 33% of students are visual-experiential students like Julie and 29% learn better this way
- These students often come from the best families, who have struggled despite massive investments of time, money and effort.
- These students can make very dramatic gains in a reasonable time frame if we address the vision, attention, learning and self-esteem issues while partnering with parents. When parents are an integral part of the program we can get far greater results than traditional tutoring.
Key Additions To The Program
Over the years, there are eight areas we have improved significantly
1. We needed an assessment process that focused on how students learn best, their learning strengths and issues and whether they had underlying vision, attention and/or auditory issues. We have used the Structure of Intellect Assessment ® for the last nine years - it does an excellent job of assessing the student's learning style, learning strengths and issues and whether they have underlying vision and/or auditory issues. It often shows the student is smarter than they thought and has a very positive influence on self-esteem. We needed a way to assess attention issues and have used the Interactive Metronome ® since 2000. This provides a valuable assessment. Lastly, many of our students were having real vision problems when reading - we have used the Visagraph ® since 2002. It shows what the student's eyes are doing when reading and has often identified key issues that were previously missed.

SOI Assessment + Interactive Metronome + Visagraph = Assessment For Success
Parents are often convinced by speaking with us and our references, but they want confirmation their child learns differently - that is why we know offer the On-Line Assessment For Success.
2. While only a fraction of our clients had ADHD, many clients had underlying attention issues. Therefore we added four key elements:
- The Interactive Metronome ® that significantly improves attention and self-control, reading and math fluency and sports skills
- Brain Gym ® exercises that improve left and right-brain integration and also improve focus, attention and vision
- An Internal Controller that allows both the students and parents to control their frustration, while getting work done more quickly
- The Freeze Frame ® System - a neuro-feedback system to calm the student.
3. Close to 70% of our students have significant issues with either:
- Skipping words or lines when reading
- Copying off the board
- Remembering math facts and/or spelling words
We therefore have developed an array of exercises to improve these skills while collaborating with like-minded vision specialists.
We also offer the Gemstone Vision System ®, a web-based solution to improve vision tracking and related skills -- we now offer the Gemstone
4. Parent training has always been an integral part of the training and we have produced an excellent workbook that enables parents to provide the follow-up support. We also work with the students and parents to set goals and to provide a positive and effective way for parents and students to communicate. We also collaborate with schools.
5. Parents also wanted to make sure that:
- Reading speed and comprehension gains were significant
- Attention gains were sustained and continued improvement was made
- They could afford what we do
We now offer Reading Plus ® as an option to further improve reading speed and comprehension. We also leverage both Recording For the Blind and Dyslexic and Talking Books to provide books on tape.
6. Implementation has always been a major concern - we have now added a 3 month coaching module that will significantly improve your ability to do the necessary follow-up, ask questions and get the support you need during this critical period.
7. Lastly, as parents and educators we want to see the student's self-esteem improved, the parent child communication to be even more effective and for the entire experience to be positive for the entire family - we have structured our program to be a work hard/play hard experience where parents and students experience transformational gains in a positive and relaxed setting.
