3D Learner Foundation, a 501(c)3 for Right-Brain Learners
Focused on Identifying Right-Brain Learners and Their Related Challenges, Helping More 3rd Graders Achieve Success by Third Grade and Helping Students to Get Scholarhips.
The 3D Learner Foundation, a not for profit foundation registered with the State of Florida, is focused on identifying right-brain learners, helping students succeed by 3rd grade and helping student athletes to succeed. With the new Florida State Standards more students than ever will struggle with reading comprehension. Most other states are using the Common Core Standards. The New Florida State Standards are virtually identical to the Common Core Standards. Other efforts will include providing scholarships for students.
Identifying Right-Brain Learners, Their Challenges and Helping Students Succeed
Right-brain learners are often diagnosed with dyslexia, learning disabilities or ADHD. These students can often succeed if they are taught to their strengths and their related challenges are identified and addressed.
The 3D Learner Foundation is dedicated to collecting data on tens of thousands of students and sharing what they learn with parents, students and professionals.
Specifically, the foundation will provide a Success Assessment for parents and children to complete, with immediate feedback. The foundation will then aggregate this data, to share insights into the strengths and challenges of right-brain learners.
The foundation will also provide a combination of webinars and live events to help parents and professionals to help right-brain learners succeed.
Success by Third Grade for Right-Brain Learners
The new assessments will put more students than ever at risk for 3rd grade retention. If the students barely pass, there is a good chance he or she may not understand the 4th grade books they must read in 4th grade and beyond.
The 3D Learner Foundation focuses specifically on helping the 65% of students who learn differently than the way schools teach. These students often have the potential for higher achievement with teaching methods that play to their strengths while identifying and addressing their challenges.
The 3D Learner Foundation has 3 key goals for 3rd graders:
- Alert parents to the following risks:
A. Their child’s reading comprehension may be far below grade level.
B. Their child may also learn differently and have a combination of attention, visual tracking and related issues.
C. Parents could and should be proactive in getting the help their child needs.
- Help teachers, guidance counselors, special education specialists and other school based professionals to understand the risks and opportunities that face students who learn differently and what they can do to facilitate the difference.
- Help Students Succeed by 3rd Grade and help those who failed 3rd Grade get back to grade level and avoid retention. This may also include doing studies on program effectiveness.
The 3D Learner Foundation has provided over 150 presentations around the world including in-services to schools, disability groups, student athletes, booster groups and community based organizations to help students, parents and professionals better understand students who learn differently.
The 3D Learner Foundation has helped students at Northside Christian School in St. Petersburg, FL; Vision Christian Academy, in Williston, FL; Bakersfield (CA) School District and migrant worker families; and Del Prado Elementary in Boca Raton.
At Vision Christian Academy, the 3D Learner Foundation was able to help students improve their reading comprehension by 2.9 grade levels in 8 months.
At Del Prado, the effort was in large part focused on piloting 3D Learner’s new Response to Intervention Program designed to help 1st and 2nd graders succeed, and to reduce the percentage of students who will require special education services.
The 3D Learner Foundation will be intensifying its effort to help provide more insights on right-brain learners, to help more students succeed by 3rd grade and to provide scholarships for at-risk students. As a charitable foundation, tax deductible donations can be made to further the cause of helping all students succeed.
The 3D Learner Foundation has helped student athletes earn scholarships for football (Alabama, Memphis), baseball (Florida State and LSU), golf (USF), swimming (Catholic University), and more.
